16th Century Spanish Refectory - Walnut Dollhouse Miniature

During the 16th century, Spanish furniture design was a unique blend of Renaissance and Moorish design. In this 1:12 scale dollhouse table (or escritorio) we see how the two styles have been combined with a simple, square edged, plank table top and heavy carving on the table skirt and drawer fronts. Often referred to as a long table, a term that supersedes the name refectory table which once applied to a table of this size but was changed about circa 1540 after the abolishment of the monasteries during the reformation. This miniature Spanish Refectory reproduction table is supported on ring turned spindle legs with spreader bas just above floor level. The miniature hable has four working drawers whose fronts are decorated with a leaf carving and have ring style drawer pulls. A similar carving has been repeated on the remaining three sides of the miniature table's apron. This stunning reproduction table is wooden, Walnut finished, manufactured by JBM Miniatures and measures 2.5" tall by 2.5" deep by 6" long.
